David Wicklund - owner/operator

I am a passionate grower excited to share my knowledge and experience with all other growers. I have followed both conventional and certified organic growing practices to learn this craft. This journey has included operating the 1600 acre family farm in Saskatchewan with a Diploma in Agriculture from University of Saskatchewan and a Masters Degree in Environmental Studies (Regenerative Agriculture) from York University. l now find myself at Pattison Farms on Vancouver Island where I continue to follow my passion and curiousity for growing organic vegetables in a sustainable manner.

During a 20 year break from farming, while raising my two daughters, I participated in software development. I learned a great deal more about focus and strategic planning during this time which has been indispensable in operating a market gardening business. Five years ago I returned full time to my passion of growing beautiful, nutritious, certified organic vegetables. That choice led me to Gerry Pattison who operates the highly successful certified organic Pattison Farms, Black Creek on Vancouver Island. I have been the field manager  there handling 3 acres of field crops as part of an amazing 6 person team. We have steadily increased production and over the last 5 years significantly. Plans are evolving to continue increasing production (10-15% annually) by a combination of intensive production techniques and weed/pest management practices. I will use all of this knowledge and experience to assist growers to their highest possible potential.
